“God has a right to interrupt my life. He is Lord. When I accepted Him as Lord, I gave Him the right to help Himself to my life anytime He wants”

“If you can’t be faithful in a little, God will not give you a larger assignment. He may want to adjust your life and character in smaller assignments first to prepare you for the larger ones.” I love Matthew 25:21. In a previous devotion, I have stated that at the end of my life, I’d like to stand before God and be told “well done, good and faithful servant!” I love that line as God gives us small roles & assignments to prepare us for His will. I pray that I may be faithful to Him in the little assignments He is giving me & in the role I am placed in. May I stand in front of Him one day, helping to extend His kingdom and making Him proud.
The part that stood out to me about today’s devotion was on page 46, where it says “many of us don’t want to give attention to the development of our characters; we just want God to give us a big assignment.” This is so significant for me because wow, it’s just so true. I ask God for things to do but I completely ignore the part where I need to have better characters first. This boils down to serving vs. being. If I am not right before God first, God won’t assign bigger and better things for me to do in His kingdom.
God, I pray that You would continue to help form me spiritually. Help me realize that I first need to be a faithful servant and follower of You first before I could take on bigger and bolder tasks.
Today’s passage was kinda savage. I mean it’s easy to say you want to hear God’s voice, but being prepared for what He’s gonna say isn’t really touched upon. And it makes sense. Gods not just gonna have a quick conversation w you about your day, He is gonna give you commands that will be life changing. I think a reassuring thought is that He will also prepare you for what He’s asking. He didn’t throw any of the greats into their situations without preparing them sufficiently for what was coming. And I think that is something a little more concrete to focus on. Not only trying to hear Gods voice, but to work on yourself in preparation for when He does, so that your heart will be ready to serve no matter what. God help shape me into a person who is willing to hear and obey, not just listen to any voice in the wind. Give me motivation to do what you tell me to do
Day 5 God speaks with Purpose – One of the main points from today’s passage that stood out to me is that “If God has a great task for you, He will expand your character to match that assignment.” Sometimes it’s hard to respond to God’s calling because the task seems impossible to complete. However, when we understand that God speak with a purpose and He can shape us in a way to complete his assignment. The task is no longer a burden but a chance to be molded more like Him. I realize a lot of time, I am not being intentional with the time I spend with God. I would place other entertainment which comes quick and easy before Him, I take advantage that there’s is no deadline for my spiritual life so I can spend time with him whenever I feel like to. God is being placed on my waiting list. I thank God that He bring forth this reflection for me. So I can become more intentional with my schedule by placing God as my priority
Maybe it’s a coincidence, but when today’s devotion touched on the topic of character, I felt Him speak to me on the need to gain awareness of the self and of my character. When it’s mentioned that “nothing is more pathetic than having a small character when you have a big assignment”, I realized how necessary it is to continually develop my mind, body and spirit to reflect a character more equipped to handle God’s assignments. It is so easy to conform to bad habits and remain stagnant, but I must ask God to guide my path and help me to undo my wrongs. Father, I pray that you continue to broaden my perspectives through the people I meet. I pray that through each person and experience, I build a bigger character to suit the assignment you have in store for me.
