Daily Reading Challenge’s Rules

The purpose of this Daily Reading Challenge is to encourage consistent Bible Reading and Reflection between accountability partners 5 days a week for 10 weeks starting 01/15/24. Each day, you and your team will get a group text for a devotional passage to read. You text back your reflection to the group chat. The winning team will be treated to KBBQ at the end. The rules are simple:

  1. The winning team (between 4-8 people) is determined by the consistent and meaningful daily reflection from ALL members before midnight. Of course, you can use the group text also to share other chit-chats and prayer requests. But only meaningful reflections related to the daily Bible reading would be counted. Screenshots of your written reflection or photos of the challenged activities are accepted.
    1. Note that while the team can have non-competitive members (people just want to read the Bible but don’t want to be obligated to post the reflection), the team needs at least 4 competitive members to qualify for the prize.
    2. Members can all start as competitive members, but if they miss participation, their status will change to non-competitive members.
  2. Tiebreaker 1: You can also post your team’s reflection on the daily reading as a comment on the devotional website so other teams can read it. (This website belongs to RP). If we have multiple winning teams at level 1 above, we will select the winning team as the team that has the most consistent daily web comments. (Only one entry per team per day is needed).
  3. Tiebreaker 2: If we have multiple winners at level 1 above, we will select the winning team by Sunday’s attendance among the competitive team members.
  4. Tiebreaker 3: If we have multiple winners at level 2 above, we will select the winning team by the team’s service project in the community (around weeks 6-7 in Rooted schedule)
  5. Tiebreaker 4: If we have multiple winners at level 3 above, we will select the winning team by a random drawing among the finalists.
  6. Trial run: For the competition starting 01/15/24, we will give all teams the first week as a grace period to solidify their teams and make mistakes. That way, new participants can get on board and familiarize themselves with the format.

That’s it. While these rules are in place to encourage you, the main benefit would be to develop the habit of hearing from God regularly. May you keep each other growing by God’s Word
