‘The world has yet to see what God can do with and for and in a man/woman who is fully consecrated to Him.”
What is ‘consecrated’?
It the act of setting apart something that is ordinary or common, for holy purposes. So God, I consecrate my marriage, my family, my work and ministry for your purposes..because they were never mine to begin with..Im but a steward over them.
The moment God speaks to you IS God’s timing. ok wow, yes God! I love that because I’m always trying to go at my own pace & my own timing. Especially when God speaks to me & I don’t want to do it, I take all the sweet time in the world! The moment God speaks to me is the moment God wants me to respond to Him – believe & obey.
Lord God, thank you for opening up my eyes to show me how self-centered I can be by putting my plans and my comfort above Yours. I yearn to know You deeper & to grow immensely to be more like Christ. I pray that I will leap forth trusting You day by day with the small assignments You give me so that my character may be stretched as I respond in faith and obedience. I put my hope in You to see the amazing things You will accomplish. Love you Big G.
Today’s devotion was great!! Towards the bottom of page 26, this little excerpt stands out to me, it says “Moses was a servant who was moldable, and he remained at God’s disposal to be used as God chose.God accomplished His purposes through him. When does a God-sized work through your life, you will be humbled before Him”. AMEN! I have seen God’s work through my life and I was indeed humbled just by the massive scale and His love for others. I am reminded that God is able to use anyone, He is able to raise anyone up to do His work for Him, it is up to me whether or not I would want to be a part of that grand invitation, and I do! Praise God that He uses ordinary people for His kingdom and does not require any special skills. Whatever I am, He works with that. I find that so cool that I am loved and used every day by my Creator.
God, I lift up Your name for You are worthy of my praise. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Your work and showing me what I am able to do through You.
“Paul said God deliberately seeks the weak things and the despised things because from them He received the greatest glory.” (1 Cor. 1: 25-31) I hope that everyone comes to know and experience the grace from this passage. Many of my friends have been telling me how they feel ashamed for their brokenness and others have told me they are too broken for God. But God uses the broken to bring Him glory. He used Peter, Moses, David & many more. I am finally almost out of my season of mourning and anguish with the Lord. In the season, it didn’t feel right for me to be praising the Lord and serving Him when I was questioning and angry at Him. But now I do believe that God can use me in all seasons of my life. May I use this time to seek healing and transformation in Him and also to bring glory to His Kingdom by drawing others to Him.
It’s really cool to be reminded that even the greats were just ordinary people. David was a shepherd, Moses too iirc, Peter and John talked in front of the Sanhedrin, and even some of the giants in church history were normal people. And God did insane things through these people with miracles and revivals. In the same vein, I need to remain humble when God uses me. If you’re that on fire for God and seeing His work all around you, it’d be easy to take credit. I also gotta check myself that I don’t judge others in their walks. God could be doing wonders through someone but if they’re humble about it they don’t take any credit, or if God is working in a way I don’t see, I shouldn’t be the one to judge. And if God can use someone as sinful as me, he can use anyone, so it’s not my place to judge. I pray that I stay humble and that I continue to pursue God and searching for His will. Help me not judge others in their walks and focus solely on You.
From Don:
I think the statement from today’s reading that resonated most with me is: “When you believe nothing significant can happen through you, you have said more about your belief in God than you have declared about yourself.”
It seems this statement is multi-faceted.
First of all, once again, it takes the focus off of self and places it on God- where our focus should be. I have struggled with this in the past. I would always hesitate to share the gospel with others. One of the reasons was that I felt I did not know enough, nor was I eloquent enough in my speech, (I’m a better writer/texter than speaker,) to be able to be effective in it. But, when I began to realize that it is God who changes minds and hearts, and that it is not about my own abilities, I began to become much bolder in my evangelistic endeavors?
Second, it seems as though our belief in what God can and will do through us is directly proportional to our level of faith. I once thought that I could not be used by God in any real meaningful and impactful way becasue of my own inabilities. Today, I know that God will use me, so long as I allow Him to and keep myself available to Him, despite my inabilities. He is so much bigger than I once realized. In fact, He is infinitely bigger and greater than I can even comprehend!
Lord, increase our faith. Help us to remember that it is You who works through us to accomplish Your great purposes. Keep our eyes ever on You, and not on ourselves or our circumstances, that we may know how great You are. Sanctify us by Your truth, and consecrate us unto You. “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure,” (Philippians 2:13).
