- Which reason for rest is most compelling for you (God commands rest/Jesus promises rest/I need rest)?
- Why do you think we have such a hard time receiving this gift of rest? What gets in the way of rest for you?
- What action will you take to rest, even for a few minutes, today?
As I grow older, I definitely see the need for rest. Having burned out in ministry early in my life, I know it is important to rest and take time off from our daily lives. Even though I know I require rest, it is still hard to rest because sometimes I feel I’m being led from one thing to another and it seems hard to say no or to forgo something especially when it is something good. I think the one good thing to come out of covid is the forced rest that has been put on all of us. Going through this book has only added more reasons and pushed me more to force myself to find rest. I pray that I can find a better rhythm for rest in my life.
Jesus promises rest is most compelling. I have a hard time receiving rest because I think I have a chaotic heart as the book says here. I hope to slow down this year & honor the sabbath & my small daily rest. I took a bath & now I’m about to read before bed to rest today.
