“if you start in a direction and then everything seems to come to a halt, go back and clarify what God said.” today i’m reminded that God is more concerned about our relationship rather than our work. if I remain rooted in His love and continue to reorient my focus, steps, and direction towards Him, my life will become more intertwined with His will that my desires align more with His. the less i spend time with Him, the more my self centered nature takes over that my direction veers away from His. Lord, thank you that You pursue and love me first that i’m able to do the same. Help me to continue to fix my eyes on You that my steps would move in obedience towards You
The point that stuck out to me most in today’s reading was that the servant does not tell the Master what he wants to do, but instead the servant waits on the Master’s order to see what needs to be done. This is an important reminded for me because during this period of waiting on God’s command/order, my character and patience are being formed, they’re taking shape into His likeness so that I can become more like Him. There is really a season for everything. There’s a season to act but there’s also a season to wait on His callings. Just the devotion said, let the time of waiting purify my life so that I can become a clean vessel for His service. Amen to that.
Father, thank you for using me and sharpening my will to become stronger each day. I pray that my doings would be glorifying to You once You call me to act.
In today’s passage, I learned a lot about patience when it comes to hearing from God. A lot of times I think I’m qualified and prepared for a task but God doesn’t give me the opportunities to do those aspects, or He takes them away. It’s really difficult but I love the analogy of how God is building us up like a tree for eternal life. We must be rooted deeply and He will then move. We aren’t planted like grass. Grass that quickly grows and fades at every moment. Dear God, may I be right where you want me to be and nowhere else. May I have the patience for when you move in my life. Amen.
I often think about my faith and where I want to take it as I continue to grow as a Christian. With that being said, I want to take on new challenges and I want God to give me assignments. However, that also comes with a lot of fear and discomfort. I will allow God to take all the time He needs to shape me for His purposes. Heavenly Father God, as I go through this handbook I am so encouraged to join You in your work. I pray that I will continue to be faithful in my relationship with You so that You may reveal more of Yourself to me. May I put my trust in Your timing and Your plans because I know Your ways are higher than my own.

This makes me think of the time I had mentioned about before when I attended the School of Ministry as a new believer. I had just got clean and sober, and just knew that God wanted to use me in a big way in some sort of recovery ministry. The only problem was, I knew much less about both God and recovery than I seemed to think I knew, and certainly had very far to go in terms of my character. Eventually, as I also mentioned before, I relapsed and quickly spiraled downward and away from God. In time, He drew me back to Himself, and helped me to get clean and sober once again. This time though, I had been greatly humbled. That was a little over 9 years ago. Since that time, God has continued to work on my character, (with a firm hand when necessary,) and has led me into a ministry in recovery, but through an entirely different way than I had originally imagined. Above all, my relationship with Him has grown much deeper than I could’ve foreseen back then. His ways are much higher than ours.
Lord, give us the patience to allow You to shape and mold us into what You would have us be, and the perseverance to continue to seek You with all our hearts. Give us an eternal perspective, that we would allow You to take all the time You want to shape us for Your eternal purposes!
