“When we hear God invite us to join Him, we often want Him to give us a sign: ‘Lord, prove to me this is You, and then I will obey.’ … Affirmation comes after obedience.” I’m reminded today that God frequently affirms His will after we obey and do. This is so I must be ever more dependent on Him for guidance, and that comes with spending more time with Him to know His character and then seeing how He’s working around me. If I am not rooted in Him, there’s no way I’d be able to begin to know what His will is to obey. Lord, I see the importance of drawing close to you to understand more of Your will by knowing You more. Thank you for loving me and wanting to move me to where You want me to be. May I find joy and freedom in obedience
“Some of the great people of God were broken by sin and disobedience; yet God did not give up on them”. This reminds me of Peter when he said that he would not give up on Jesus; yet he denied Him 3 times. But Jesus did not give up on him for his disobedience. Jesus brought him back and asked him to feed His lambs. In the same way, even though many times God let me to do my own things in the wrong direction, He still brings me back to Him. I am not perfect and this is why I need Jesus in my life. Without Him, I am nothing. Despite all my mistakes, He has a great plan for my life. But all of that is nothing if I’m not repent and to be rooted in the love of Jesus everyday. God, thank you for being who you are and your great love despite how imperfect I am. Help me to continue to learn more about you through my obedience to you God.
God loves to develop our character and part of this is letting us make the wrong direction. God will allow us to go astray but not too far in order to bring us back to him. He can even work our disobedience in his plan as a way to teach us and learn from our actions. This proves that everything is within God’s plan whether even if it may seem bad. God miraculously works bad circumstances into what his purpose is. This encourages me that even under bad situations God is continuously still as work and shall help me triumph whatever I’m facing.
In today’s passage, I learned about how we show God our love through obedience. He gives us second chances to be obedient to Him but not all the time, and when we aren’t obedient to Him there are consequences. These consequences are to help us grow though. As I look back on my life throughout this book, I’m not too sure how obedient I have been nor if I deserve all of this that Christ has been doing for me. I definitely appreciate it though. Dear God, I thank you for the grace you have upon me as I have been disobedient to you. I pray that I won’t just talk about being obedient but I will actually be obedient. Amen.
