I like the Psalm 119:33-35 and this is the scripture that stood out to me today. This is something I want for my life and I know from personal experience that my life is more fulfilling and purposeful when I follow God’s Will and His decrees. I have always prayed for wisdom to understand the ways of God cause I do believe that this makes obedience easier. Sometimes when we blindly follow decrees they can be hard to follow but the more I learn about God and the benefits of following His ways, the easier I have found to obey God. I pray that God will continue to teach me so that I can always follow His commands and decrees because I know this is the best thing for my life.
“Disobedience is a serious rejection of God’s will.” How scary is that. When we disobey God, we are outright rejecting His will for us. Many times I tend to justify my disobedience or brush it off as no big deal, however, disobedience whether “big” or “small” is disobedience and rejecting God’s will for me. Lord I pray that I may have a heart that is fully surrendered to you. May I be obedient to Your calling, laws, and ways. Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees.
In tonight’s reading I’m reminded that we love God by obeying Him. When we obey Him we come to know and experience more of who He is. In our obedience, we can build a strong foundation to withstand life’s challenges for He is with us. In our obedience, He will be our God and we His people.
“The precious level of your walk with God will not be adequate for the new work God wants to do through you.” In this, complacency is not going to grow you. Learning and growing is one of the most awesome things I enjoy most. To grow in Christ, I must yield to the Holy Spirit to teach me about Jesus so I can trust Him and obey Him. When I obey God, I will experience more of Him and He will accomplish His work through me. Even in the most challenging commands, I find myself hesitating but eventually, I respond in obedience because I love God. Heavenly Father, I pray for my faith to grow in You as I respond in obedience and trust you. I don’t know where you’re calling me to next but I pray that you will reveal that to me as I seek You in Your word.
The reading today tied in well with the sermon yesterday. The truths about obedience really hit home when thinking about the video we watched about blackaby and his son. When there’s obedience theres joy and trust. When there’s disobedience there’s still love but also disappointment and discipline. So it’s impossible to love God but not obey Him. It’s counter intuitive. They just naturally go together. And this is why disobedience shows a heart problem, going back a few weeks. If we constantly disobey or don’t see the problem with our sin, we show our distrust and lack of love for God and that’s a serious problem. And thank God that he takes the initiative, bc we would never willingly choose God over the pleasures of the world without his guidance and the Holy Spirit. God help me and my brothers to love you more and actually reflect on what it means to love you and what must come out of that love.
