“The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” David’s belief about God was a matter of life and death – he put his life on the line to demonstrate what he believed to be true, and the whole nation of Israel witnessed God work through him. I know that my belief in who God is is also a matter of life and death, but I don’t go out with that sense of urgency or grandeur that David has towards God. I want to be able to glorify God by recalling His works and glories in times of crises that He may reveal His power. Lord, may I have the faith like David, that during crises I’m able to look back at Your previous glory with humble expectation that You are still sovereign and powerful
“Actions indicate what we believe and do not believe about God.” This phrase harks back to the bible verse about being able to do all things through Christ who strengthens me and I think it relates here as being able to do the impossible is a possible through Christ. So, to go forward with actions is to go forward in faith as how we proceed is due to our belief in whether or not God can pull through in us. Likewise, not going through with actions betrays what we say we know of God and how, through Christ, we would be able to achieve God-sized things. Of course, not every impossible thing is a guaranteed possible as jumping off a cliff with complete faith that God will save you is just blind faith. The faith that is revealed through action is familial faith built on the love relationship we have with God. That is why our actions reveal what we believe about God as what we believe is built on a personal relationship, so following through with God-sized actions is reinforced by what we know of God and experienced first-hand.
What we truly believe in God reflects in our actions. Trusting in God is not something that just exist in our mind. It is suppose to be our weapon to battle against unbelief and things that seems to be above of our control or understanding. When we believe that God would deliver us from trails or tribulations, we would be faithful to make our first step to meet Him. God display his power through our faith. He will catch us with His work. Through faith, His works bears fruits. I’m reminded that trusting God be something we continue to practice no matter what we are experiencing in life. God is our ultimate reliance in tough times in life or when things are running smoothly. There should be no reason to hold back and hesitate because we have seen Him work before.
Today was pretty simple. I am reminded that God really loves his people. He was always performing miracles and healing… but that did come with great faith.
Other than that I believe these stories could be use as reminder for when we have crisis of belief.
