“I don’t take the next step without the context of God’s full activity in my life.” A lot of times when I make decisions, I do not think of God unless its a huge decision where I can’t seem to know what to do. However, this devotion reminded me that before we make any decision, we should always think of God and not rely on ourselves. Lord, I pray that I will alter my life around you & have you be the center of my life.
In today’s I learned that there are spiritual markers that God is showing me. I feel like I need to do this more when I see an opportunity I need to pray about it and lay down my life to Christ and to tell him I will openly serve him. But I usually don’t I tend to stay back and just wait for it to come to me. But in today’s reading it showed me I need to see all my options and see if it aligns with God’s perspective because if it doesn’t I still need to pray more and wait for God’s timing. Dear God let me lay down my life to you and go to you immediately when opportunities arise. Amen
“A spiritual marker identifies a time of transition, decision, or direction when I clearly know God has guided me. Over time I can look back at three spiritual markets and see how God has faithfully directed my life according to His divine purposes.” Throughout my life God has worked in many different ways, but as I reflected about if there was any specific emphasis I realized the importance of mentorship for me as I grew and continue to grow in faith. He surrounded me with leaders who always made time for me when I asked to help me in my faith when I first began coming to church, whether it was rides to and from church all the way from Irvine when I was in high school or meeting them nowadays. God’s placed it on my heart to be more present with the younger guys lately and I’ve been busy with work/my own hobbies that I feel like I don’t have time, but if this is how God’s working around me then I want to be faithful to Him. Lord, help me to reflect on the spiritual markers of my life to better understand Your presence in my life and how I may be faithful to Your working
Today’s reading really stood out to me as I reflect on my situation. We need God’s guidance to walk us through major decisions in life. But before we bring up our request for wisdom and guidance, we must first submit our heart. A heart and ears open to hear so that we would not miss out God’s words and being consumed by our own interest. When talked about physical and spiritual marker, I’m reminded of my journal I would keep to record my days and my thoughts. Seeing God moving in the past circumstances help us to walk align with His will too. There are purpose in His ways, God reveals a little bit of himself through all situations. The timing is perfect, there’s never to late for God to point out where he want us to head.
The topic of spiritual markers stood out to me today’s reading. I think they are important for our lives so that not only do we remember what God has done for us in the past but also to help us to navigate the future since we learned that God will “always be in sequence with what He has already been doing” in our lives. Creating spiritual markers can help us when decisions arise in our lives where we need to choose between good and best. I pray that I can continue to take note of the spiritual markers in my life and that I can honor God in following the sequence He has laid out for my life.
I think the idea of using spiritual markers is cool. Its like a testimony, its like reflecting and finding a common trend in your life.
Im sure like most of you, it was school, churches, and career. Looking back now I can see God bringing me to a better community for me to grow. Whenever I would question career or goals, God always provided a job…usually this connection was from church.
I think the common trend throughout my spiritual markers is TRUST. Trusting that if the Lord lead me this far, he can lead me even further.
