“Don’t allow yourself to be led by tradition, a method, or a formula. Often people trust these ways because they appear easier than cultivating an intimate walk with God.” I admit that I am drawn to any of those first 3 because it’s so much easier for me to follow instructions on a tried and true process rather. I understand from the devotion that God doesn’t want that from me; He wants a love relationship with me that is unique and personal that continues to grow deeper. God, thank you for pursuing a love relationship with me. Help me to seek you out uniquely in my own life, to be rooted in You that I may be confident in my experience with You.
The statement that most resonated with me in today’s study was that “waiting on the Lord’s clear word reflects our absolute dependence on God”. I was never one to play the waiting game as my patience easily wore thin. Moreover, I typically sought immediate action and immediate outcomes, falling for the misconception in which we must always be working or completing something in order to become closer to God. However, it is not through our own efforts, abilities, and achievements that brings us closer to God; it is our incompetence and sole dependence on our Father’s word that fosters a connection between us and the Lord which thus allows Him to work through us. In response to today’s study, God wants me to pray and wait for his clear instruction as well as develop a deeper relationship with Him.
Today’s devotion definitely furthered my perspective on receiving God’s will and ultimately continue to seek to build that intimate relationship with him so I do understand him and know it is him. God’s work is unique as is his voice. I can personally attest to this that when God wants to speak to you, you will know. I’ve experienced many various ways God has spoken to me. Through other individuals in the church, through the Bible, and through an unnatural unique experience…something like Moses’s burning bush experience. My experience with God has been unique and may sound crazy to others, but that is okay because this was meant to be unique between me and him. Further more, I really took to heart, “if you want to know the will and voice of God, you must devote time and effort to cultivate a love relationship with him.” These last few weeks has definitely been tough for me and I definitely felt a little lost in terms of hearing God and I am ultimately being reminded of why I’m lost right now and need to return to this state of seeking intimacy with him. I am thankful for his grace to allow for me to still be here with my brothers to be connected to him through that cross, covered in bloodshed. How sovereign and loving he is, all in one. He is so great! Hallelujah!
I’m thankful that God speaks to His people in a clear unique way that allows them to know it is Him who is speaking and what He is saying. Hearing God speak is an encounter with Him. I pray to cultivate a loving relationship with Him and to be able to be still enough to hear His voice and be obedient.
The word that stood out today in the reading was in the wrong pattern section. It said that “God is not obligated to stop you from making a mistake!” There were times in my life where I prayed that God would open and close certain doors for decisions I was training to make. I know that in a way this could be a way in which we test God to try to make Him force us to avoid our mistakes when we selfishly try to exert our will in “godly” endeavors. I pray that I would instead be patient and wait on God’s Word to direct my life. I pray that I will be able to hear God’s voice whenever He chooses to speak to me.

God wants us to know the will and the voice of God, you must devote time and effort to cultivate a love relationship with Him. Dear Lord, thank you for this bible study today and I hope that you will let us hear your voice and know your voice so that we can talk to you whenever and you can talk to us whenever. -Amen
