“When people see Godlike love, they will be drawn to Christ and to His church.” The most regular people I see nowadays are my coworkers, patients, and gym members. I had a recent conversation both with a new hire (found out he is Presbyterian) and the owner of the gym about my faith which naturally came up in conversation. I want this to become a more frequent practice for me so that the people around me know that I am Christian and can attribute the way I show love and care to them, not just through excellence of work but as people, they can see a difference between our interactions and their interactions with others. I don’t take advantage of the opportunities that come up to fellowship with other churches, but I know that’s a way I need to grow in my love for others as well. Lord, thank you for placing me in a career that is full of relationships. Help me to love those You’ve placed around me just as You’ve loved me that they may be drawn to You
Today’s reading was great! I know I’m still pretty new to the church so I don’t know how things mesh. But today’s reading just showed me how cool it is for churches to help each other out so they can all grow. It kinda reminded me of the campus ministry I was in at fullerton even though there were other campus ministries that might’ve had bigger groups or maybe better events I was often reminded we all have the same goal so let’s help each other out no matter what. God I pray as a body of believerw that we all come in unity with you amen.
“A believer cannot experience God in all the dimensions God intends for him or her apart from the body of Christ- a local church.”
I just felt this quote was meaningful as it highlighted the importance of church. And not simply just going through the motions, and attending really quickly just to get it over with… but to truly experience all dimensions of God and that koinonia He creates. I think I got a taste of that for the first time when I saw the VAY out on sports fest through trials and tribulations. The fellowship that came from the event was very impactful, and I saw many churches functioning as one. I’m not sure how to see that more on a weekly basis, but I do pray that I can maybe begin meeting some people at Chapman and integrate into that community more. They hit me up often because im part of a scholarship group the disciples of Christ. But I always end up doing something instead just because I’ve become comfortable with RP. But who’s to say I can’t get to know more believers, so yeah I think this reading helped me understand that. And Lord I pray you can give me the strength to make that next step into meeting other believers and expanding my Christian community.
When God places people in our lives who are difficult to love, our capacity to love grows. When Christians deal with the rest of the world, love and kindness are not always returned. The reason why God sometimes sends unlovable people into our lives is so that they can observe how God works in us and grow our ability to embrace and love. Our capacity to love got greater as a church body as we met new people, believers and nonbelievers alike.
