Our Speakers
Dr. Calvin Russell
Main Speaker
Get ready to be inspired this winter! We are beyond excited to introduce you to a man who has been a cornerstone in youth ministry for over 30 years—Dr. Calvin Russell from Toronto, Canada.
A Stalwart in Youth Ministry
Dr. Russell is no stranger to the youth ministry landscape. He serves as the Director of both DOXA and REMIX, initiatives that have left an indelible mark on thousands of young lives across North America. His core philosophy? Making disciples as Jesus did. It’s this commitment that has fueled his enduring and impactful ministry.
A Leader Among Leaders
But Dr. Russell‘s influence doesn’t stop at the grassroots level. He also serves as the Canadian Director for Sonlife and is deeply involved with Youth Unlimited in the Greater Toronto Area. His leadership extends to international platforms, as he is invited to conduct Sonlife Discipleship training at the General Assembly of Youth for Christ International. Additionally, he has utilized his facilitation skills with Eagle’s Flight, training executives across Canada.
An Academic Pillar
Don’t let his down-to-earth demeanor fool you—Dr. Russell is also a scholar. He earned his doctorate from Acadia University in 2016, adding an academic layer to his already multifaceted approach to ministry.
A Personal Touch
When he’s not busy with ministry work, Dr. Russell is a dedicated family man. He enjoys playing hockey, going on road trips to warmer places, and exploring quaint coffee shops along the way. Married for over 30 years and father to three adult children as well as a grandfather to his grandchildren, Dr. Russell‘s values of compassion and care for the marginalized resonate deeply in both his personal and professional life.
What to Expect at the Winter Retreat
Dr. Russell will be sharing invaluable insights in 5 keynote messages that promise to challenge, inspire, and uplift us all to “Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples”. His unique blend of academic rigor, practical experience, and personal touch makes him a speaker you won’t want to miss.
So mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable Winter Retreat with Dr. Calvin Russell!
