{"id":225758,"date":"2025-10-14T01:28:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T08:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vayhub.us\/rdpt22\/?p=225758"},"modified":"2025-10-13T06:35:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T13:35:37","slug":"gea06-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vayhub.us\/rdpt22\/gea06-2","title":{"rendered":"GeA06-2: The Threefold Alienation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\">Genesis 3:7\u201310 (NIV84)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><sup>7<\/sup>Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. <sup>8<\/sup>Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. <sup>9<\/sup>But the Lord God called to the man, \u201cWhere are you?\u201d <sup>10<\/sup>He answered, \u201cI heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">With a single bite, paradise was lost. The first and most immediate consequence was not a thunderclap from heaven, but a quiet, horrifying inward collapse. The narrative gives us three movements in this symphony of alienation. First, <em>&#8220;they realized they were naked.&#8221;<\/em> This was not new information; it was a new and terrible self-awareness. Shame, that cold sense of unease with one\u2019s own being, was born. They were suddenly alienated from themselves, their own bodies becoming objects of disgrace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This internal fracture immediately led to an external one. Their second act was to sew fig leaves, to make coverings. This is a profound picture of humanity\u2019s future. Innocence had known no need for barriers; now, fear demanded them. They hid, not yet from God, but from each other. They became the first beings to feel the chilling draft of mistrust, the desperate need to manage perceptions and shield the soul from the gaze of another. They were now alienated from each other, a chasm of fear and self-protection opening between them where seamless unity once reigned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Finally, when they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden, they performed the third act of this tragedy: &#8220;they hid from the Lord.&#8221; This is the root of the other two alienations. It is only because their relationship with God was disrupted that their relationships with themselves and each other fell apart. The spiritual problem is the parent of all psychological and social problems. Having been made for communion with God, they were now terrified of His presence. The One who was their source of life had become their source of fear. This is the foundational wound of the human condition: alienation from God, the very ground of our being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Reflect, Share &amp; Prayer:<\/strong> We still instinctively &#8220;sew fig leaves&#8221;\u2014using careers, humor, accomplishments, or silence\u2014to hide our true selves from others and from God. What are the &#8220;fig leaves&#8221; you most often use?
