And it was so. <sup>8<\/sup>God called the expanse \u201csky.\u201d And there was evening, and there was morning\u2014the second day. <sup>9<\/sup>And God said, \u201cLet the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.\u201d And it was so. <sup>10<\/sup>God called the dry ground \u201cland,\u201d and the gathered waters he called \u201cseas.\u201d And God saw that it was good. <sup>11<\/sup>Then God said, \u201cLet the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.\u201d And it was so. <sup>12<\/sup>The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. <sup>13<\/sup>And there was evening, and there was morning\u2014the third day. <sup>14<\/sup>And God said, \u201cLet there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, <sup>15<\/sup>and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.\u201d And it was so. <sup>16<\/sup>God made two great lights\u2014the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. <sup>17<\/sup>God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, <sup>18<\/sup>to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. <sup>19<\/sup>And there was evening, and there was morning\u2014the fourth day. <sup>20<\/sup>And God said, \u201cLet the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.\u201d <sup>21<\/sup>So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. <sup>22<\/sup>God blessed them and said, \u201cBe fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.\u201d <sup>23<\/sup>And there was evening, and there was morning\u2014the fifth day. <sup>24<\/sup>And God said, \u201cLet the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.\u201d And it was so. <sup>25<\/sup>God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you read the first chapter of Genesis aloud, you will notice something peculiar. It does not read like a dry, scientific textbook. It reads like a grand, liturgical poem. It has a rhythm, a cadence, a recurring chorus that builds with majestic power. Ten times we hear the foundational phrase, \u201cAnd God said.\u201d Seven times we hear the divine assessment, \u201cAnd God saw that it was good.\u201d Six times the refrain marks the passage of time: \u201cAnd there was evening, and there was morning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This repetition is not the mark of a simple author; it is the mark of a brilliant one. It is designed to teach us something vital about the Artist and His canvas. A universe brought into being by such a patterned and repetitive text cannot itself be a chaotic, meaningless accident. The structure of the story reveals the structure of reality. Notice the grand logic: on days one through three, God <em>forms<\/em> the realms (light\/dark, sky\/sea, land). Then, on days four through six, He <em>fills<\/em> those very realms with their inhabitants (sun\/moon, birds\/fish, animals\/man). This is the work of a supremely rational mind, a God of sublime order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This is, in fact, the very foundation for all human reason and science. We can only study the world because it is study-able. We can only discover its &#8216;laws&#8217; because laws were put there to be discovered. The universe is not a madman\u2019s scrawl; it is a masterpiece of divine logic. And what\u2019s more, its Creator is not a detached, impersonal force. The text insists He <em>sees<\/em>, He <em>evaluates<\/em>, He <em>blesses<\/em>. He is a personal God, and He declares His handiwork to be, at its core, profoundly <em>good<\/em>. We do not live in a random world, nor a hostile one, but in a world intentionally designed by a good and orderly God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Reflect, Share &amp; Prayer:<\/strong> How does knowing you live in a world designed by a <em>good<\/em> and <em>orderly<\/em> God, rather than by random chance, change the way you face your tasks this week?
