{"id":225377,"date":"2024-05-04T11:11:08","date_gmt":"2024-05-04T18:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vayhub.us\/rdpt22\/?p=225377"},"modified":"2024-05-04T11:14:03","modified_gmt":"2024-05-04T18:14:03","slug":"ra6b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vayhub.us\/rdpt22\/ra6b","title":{"rendered":"RA6b"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Does Righteousness Come to Us?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\"><sup>22<\/sup>This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to <em>all who believe<\/em>. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, <sup>23<\/sup>for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, <sup>24<\/sup>and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. <sup>25<\/sup>God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood\u2014to be received by faith&#8230;<\/p>\n<cite>Romans 3:22-25 (NIV)<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Moving on to Romans 3:22-25, we can see two essential lessons about how sinful people can receive righteousness from God:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Jesus is the source and the object of our faith:<\/strong> \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Through faith in Jesus Christ alone, we have righteousness<\/strong> (Ro. 3:22). The object of our faith is crucial; it is not faith itself that saves, but rather faith in the right object. Just as having faith in feathers strapped to one\u2019s arms will not enable flight, faith in anything or anyone other than Jesus Christ will not bring salvation. It is not even faith in God that saves, but specifically faith in Jesus Christ.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Saving faith is specifically in Christ\u2019s work on the cross<\/strong> (Ro. 3:25). It is not enough to have a general admiration for Jesus as a great man or inspirational example. Righteousness comes \u201cthrough faith in his blood,\u201d meaning faith in Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice on the cross.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The nature of righteousness:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Righteousness cannot be attained through our own actions or efforts<\/strong> (Ro. 3:23). Paul states that all have sinned and lack the glory of God. Due to our sin, we have lost the ability to live in God\u2019s presence and enjoy his approval. No amount of personal striving can bridge this gap.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Righteousness is given freely by God, without any cause or merit on our part<\/strong> (Ro. 3:24). Faith should not be viewed as a \u201cwork\u201d or a psychological state we must achieve. The word \u201cfreely\u201d emphasizes that righteousness is given in a way that is totally unwarranted and undeserved. Faith is simply coming to God with empty hands, like a child asking his mother for something, trusting in her generosity. It is crucial to understand that faith is the instrument by which we receive salvation, not the cause of it. Misunderstanding this can lead to pride and a lack of assurance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Because all have sinned, there is no one who does not need to receive righteousness, and because Christ died for those sins, there is no one who cannot receive it. \u201cAll who believe\u201d are made righteous, regardless of their background or past actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>How do these two truths work together to provide a complete understanding of salvation?
