Genesis 1:26–28 (NIV84)
26Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Psalm 8 (NIV84)
1O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. 3When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? 5You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: 7all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, 8the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. 9O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
The grand symphony of creation reaches its crescendo in a sudden, startling change of tone. For six days, the formula has been consistent: “Let there be…” and it was so. But now, the music swells. The singular voice becomes a plural consultation: “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.” Something entirely new, a creature of a different order, is about to step onto the world stage.
In the ancient world, when a king conquered a vast territory, he would erect statues of himself in the far-flung provinces. These statues were not idols to be worshipped; they were symbols of his rule, his presence, and his authority. They declared to all who saw them: “This land is under the king’s dominion. He is sovereign here.” This is the very meaning of the Hebrew word for “image.” God, the Great King, places in His newly formed creation living, breathing, walking statues of Himself. That is what you are. You are not merely a clever animal; you are a viceroy, an ambassador, a representative of the King.
This truth is the bedrock of human dignity. It means your value is not derived from your utility, your intelligence, your appearance, or your accomplishments. Your value is inherent, stamped upon you by the Creator Himself. But this dignity also comes with a grand calling. We are commanded to “rule” and “subdue,” not as tyrants who exploit creation for selfish gain, but as wise and benevolent governors who care for the King’s domain and extend His creative, life-giving order. To be human is to be God’s representative on earth, tasked with reflecting His character into every corner of His world.
Reflect, Share & Prayer: In what specific relationship or task today can you consciously act as God’s representative, reflecting His character to the world? Ask for the Holy Spirit’s help to be faithful in representing Him.

Seeing the question and seeing how God had an intricate plan when he made us makes me feel more loved and makes me feel as if I have a purpose to live out for God. If God made the universe and he made me it just makes me feel like God has an intricate plan to use me in His plan.
Lord I pray that you whatever intricate plan you have in my life let it be down. When working at the school and even one days I do not feel like it let me remember your will and what I was called to do. Amen

As I go through my day the best way I can represent God is to love other’s, do all my tasks for him who has created me for his will and purpose, honestly I still struggle with this at work, I have been with the company for 26 years now and finding a hard time with the way the company manages us and the printing presses.
Holy Spirit continue to guide me in all areas of my life, help me be a beautiful reflection of the glory of God, left me up when I feel im not at my best and teach me through your word,in Jesus name Amen
God spoke creation into being with His words, but when it came to humanity, He didn’t just speak us into existence, He made us. The Bible doesn’t go into all the details, but “making” suggests hands-on care, intentionality, and detail. It shows that He loved us, He wanted us to be a part of Him, created in His image.
I see this hands-on love in my everyday life too. I love my son and my husband—not just in words, but in actions. It would be convenient to just grab food, but because I love them, I want to cook for them, pack my son’s lunch when he goes to school, and care for them in small ways. When I love, I want to make with my hands because it reflects what’s in my heart.
“To be human is to be God’s representative on earth, tasked with reflecting His character into every corner of His world.” This ties so closely with what I read yesterday: “God created us to bring glory to Him.” It makes me think back to Sport Fest. In the heat of competition, we were so focused on winning that we forgot what the losing teams might have felt. Sometimes we even competed against our own church family. But how were we reflecting God’s character in those moments—especially to nonbelievers watching.
Oh God, I often forget that I was created to bring glory to You. Forgive my sin and the sins of my people. Help us to live in a way that seeks Your glory above all else, and to reflect Your love in everything we do, even in the small, everyday acts of care.
From Celeste:
Day 3:
Reflect and share :
Today, I will reflect God’s character at work with integrity, patience, and a positive attitude with the tasks that I’m assigned to. I will treat my coworkers and attorneys with respect and kindness. In my relationship with my friends, family and partner, I will reflect God’s character by listening, being gentle, and caring. In my recovery I will reflect God’s character by being honest, humble, and open-mindedness. I will lean on His strength instead of my own, as I turn my will over to his loving care and let my progress be an example of his grace and forgiveness.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, around me and inside of me. Please guide me today and everyday. At work, help me act with patience, and do excellent work so that my efforts reflect God’s character. In my relationships, fill my heart with kindness, forgiveness, and love. In my recovery, give me strength to stay clean, honest and humble, trusting in God and his grace. Amen.

I really enjoyed reading this devotional. As a productivity addict, I constantly need the reminder that my worth is not in what I accomplish but in God—who graciously loves me despite all my shortcomings. We truly have such a high calling as believers! At times that honestly makes me a little anxious, because I know there are moments when I reflect the exact opposite of who Christ is.
This week, I want to focus on representing Christ more faithfully in my home—especially in front of my kids—by keeping my frustrations in check and choosing words that are life-giving. I’m also stepping into a new role as a table lead in my MomCo group, and my prayer is that God would give me wisdom and grace to love these women well and to point them back to Him.
