It was crazy hearing the story of the missionary to Russia. It goes to show that whenever you do Gods will, He will always provide. God won’t call you to do something and then make it impossible. With that kind of confidence, we theoretically should be willing to go anywhere and do anything for the gospel. And at RP it’s a cool thing that we can see where our money goes. From the viet relief fund to the different missionaries we’ve sent, it’s good for us to know what Gods doing among us. And like bumble said in his sermon yesterday it’d be cool not only to experience God as an individual, but as a church community too.
“In this relationship with Christ as King, you become involved in his mission to reconcile a lost world to God.”
I’ve never considered going out into missions because of my comfort level. I forget that there are so many people who don’t have the same resources or freedom like me to know God. The story of the Ethiopian and Phillip reminds me that God uses me to build relationships with people to draw them towards Him. I can be a vessel to help them understand who God is.This chapter also reminds me that a mission doesn’t have to start somewhere big, I can start right now. God, I pray that I use my time wisely and draw myself closer to you. Equip me to gain more knowledge of you so I can spread the Gospel. I pray that I can be strong in my faith to help accomplish your mission. Ultimately God, you are the one who leads those to you & I am your servant.
The line that stood out to me in today’s reading was “You cannot be in relationship with Jesus and not be on mission.” I like this because I think sometimes we can get caught up in our own relationship with God, that we don’t recognize that in addition to growing our own relationship with God we are also called to be on mission with God as well. I pray that I would be willing to serve wherever God would place me and that I am fulfilling the mission that He has for me.
The world is big, but God’s power is greater. It is not just the job of the missionaries for spreading the word of God to all nations of the world. We as members of church body can participate in this role also. The church is a living body, it is not just a place of worship that placed in the community. Despite of all the blessings and sermons we received locally, we should have the vision to seek possibilities of expansion throughout the world, reaching out and disciple those with different backgrounds and seek for opportunities for interaction outside of the church comfort zone
In today’s reading I’m reminded about how Christians are kingdom people and as we are called to carry out the Great Commission. Our church community is a World Mission Center. I pray for our church that with God will grow our hearts for the mission field whether it’s at home or in other places around the world. May He help us to become kingdom oriented people to adjust our lives to share His love to those who have yet to know Him.
