The quote that stood out to me is when it says a faithful servant is one who does what the Master says no matter what the outcome is. I think this is so great. It’s hard to do at that point in time, having complete obedience and trust in what your Master says, but at the same time doing it and following through with it. I have complete trust and faith in Christ but sometimes the things He lays out for me or commands me to do are difficult and there definitely have been times where I want to refuse doing said things. But the example in today’s devotion reminds me even Jesus endured the cross and He is now sitting right next to the throne of God. If Jesus could give up the high heaven to come down and be with me, why can’t I do the same here with things on earth? I have to work on that.
Dear Jesus, thank you for leading by example. Thank him for showing me what a faithful servant must be like in order to inherit Your kingdom. God, please allow me to obey You fully no matter what the outcome will be.
Faith we have in God is not a guarantee of Him to fulfill our earthy success. It is courage we take to follow God and his calling no matter what the outcome is. Sometimes, I could take faith wrongly and get disappointed when God didn’t trade back the desire of my heart. From the reading, I learn that faithful servant gain reward greater than what the world offer. It may not be an immediate success that display in the outward. Sometimes, the situation may become tougher. Jesus encourage us not to grow weary in being faithful. Faith motivate us to keep running the race. The reward can be unseen, but we know it’s from God.
“a faithful life does not always bring the same results in human terms.” I’m reminded that God is the same throughout the ages but that He works differently in people’s lives and calls them individually. I’m taking time to inventory how God is calling me to action where I am now, and really enjoying one of the rare moments of silence I have this week. Thank you Lord for the ways you individually call us to Yourself. Help me to be faithful daily that I may serve you through action in the small things that may lead to bigger things in Your name
It’s so easy to say you have faith in something but like yesterday’s reading, it’s much harder for your decisions and ultimately your actions to show that faith. What you do reflects what you believe, even if you don’t put it into words. Looking at all the examples in the Bible of those who lived by faith, they all had an eternal perspective rather than an earthly one. These people were willing to die rather than give up their faith because they knew the importance of it. Their lives were inconsequential compared to eternity. So they did what God commanded, whether it ended up good or bad for them in this life. God give us that kinda strength to be obedient and do what you put in our hearts regardless of worldly outcome.
