In the reading today, I learned more about the crisis of belief. The crisis of belief calls for faith and action to be done and doing it will show how strong God is. It’s difficult though because it feels like a leap of faith. If your relationship with God isn’t strong at that moment then it will be very difficult to be able to make that leap of faith. It’s really tough to be able to do so and thus requires faith.
God, give me the faith and the discipline to grow closer to you and to continue to follow You. Amen.
The phrase that stood out to me in today’s reading said “the way you live your life is a testimony of what you believe about God”. I like this because it is a way for me to constantly check if how I live is a testimony of what I believe about God. I find it easy to tell people I believe in God and want to obey Him but it is far harder to commit to the crisis of belief and to follow God when He asks us to do something counterintuitive to the world or to walk by faith that God will provide for a God-sized endeavor. I pray that I can live a life that reflects my belief in God and that I will obey when called by God.
“An important characteristic of David’s walk with the Lord is that he stayed in a close relationship with God. He didn’t rely on yesterday’s guidance for today…” I’m reminded today that I’m called to walk by faith and respond to who God is daily – His character, promises, and what He’s done – knowing that who He is won’t change even if He chooses to display His power and move in different ways. A program could never replace the joy and faith it takes to walk with Him. Lord, draw me to You for who You are and not the illusion of security that a set method may offer. May I come to you with the decisions I make and not let a lack of faith limit Your work
I love the idea that “when God tells you what He wants to do through you, you will face a crisis of belief. ” I reflect back on those times when I question God in his plans and decisions. I was in fear and doubt because God has broke through my normalcy of life and He allows challenges to come through my way. From today’s reading, I’m reminded that crisis is not a calamity instead it’s a turning point where we got to choose God and live our our testimony. We hesitate because God is revealing to us something we are not familiar with, He is calling us to do something that we wouldn’t tried on our own. When we experience Crisis of unbelief, it’s evidence of God’s faithfulness. Because of His presence in crisis of unbelief, we receive God’s power and we can rely on His strength to step out of our boat and walk with Him.
In today’s reading, I’m encouraged to see that the way we live our lives is a testimony of what we believe about God. And when He wants to do something through us we will face a crisis of belief. Our response will reveal what we truly believe about God.
