“Bitter circumstances had taken this dear man’s eyes off the love of his Lord, but as he returned to that love relationship, God enabled him to overcome the difficulties he had faced in his life.” Though our circumstances change, God’s love always remains the same. The devotion also shared that God can work around us without us seeing it. Lord, I pray that I may live in an intimate love relationship with you where my faith will not waiver and my foundation is strong in Your truth. May I trust in your plans and that you are at work even when I do not see good in my circumstances.
We are invited in God’s work. John 15:5 said “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” We are not an outsider who are only involve in task appointed in front of us. God want to share his perspective and vision with us. This is a ever changing goal ever since creation. God want us to be in part of his grand project. Therefore he redeemed us from sin and pay great cost to save us from judgment because he wants us participate in his love

Since we started this study, I keep wondering how I was supposed to recognize God’s work so that I could join Him and see how He would use me in His work. I can’t figure out how I would know it was His work? As we read further, I learn that I needed to get to know Him well enough to love Him enough that I would be able to recognize His work. But still I’m imperfect and I can see that it would be easy for me to get it wrong and mistaken my desires for His work even if what I want to do might be moral and good, it might still be my pride leading me not God. Then we learn yesterday that when we love and obey God, He would reveal His nature and His work to us.
But today, all that comes together in 2 Kings 6:17 “…Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” I don’t do ANYTHING on my own initiative. It is not even for me to try to recognize His nature and His work on my own! I cannot do that at all. It is God that will reveal Himself to me. It is God that will, in His time, chooses to “open my eyes” so that I can see His work. The idea of God inviting me to join Him in His work is not some abstract concept but truly literal!? Mind blown!!! In His time, at His will, God will “open my eyes” so that I can recognize Him and see His work and at that time I will literally be “invited” to join His work! Wow! So it’s not up to me at all!
I’m guessing that at that moment, my choices would be (because of free will) to choose to follow Him and do His work, freely, or ignore His call. But either way His will be done and if that require me to do something, it would still be done according to His will but I just won’t be able to feel the connection to Him and the reward of serving His will.
Father, this is mind blowing to me. I struggled and worried that it was beyond my ability to be able to recognize Your presence and Your work and You will but I should not have worried. If it is Your will, You will see it done and I just have to look and see once You open my eyes. Please Father, give me the wisdom to do see when You finally open my eyes and the strength of character to join You in Your works when Your invitation finally comes.
God is around us and in order to do his work we need to be in an intimate love relationship with Him and we just us ask God to open our spiritual eyes! It was crazy seeing how God instructed them to start a church in Allan just because those two people spoke up. It’s also encouraging to know that God is at work around me even though I don’t see. Often times I feel like God is letting me do my own things and putting me through trials. But it was reassuring knowing God is at work around me even though I may not feel it or see it.
Heavely father I pray Lord that you open my eyes to your work and that you instruct me on what to do amen.
During todays devotional I’m grateful to be given the eyes to see where God is working. I feel blessed and honored to be able to serve in certain ministries. I know that I’m unworthy of it so I’m grateful that Christ gave me the chance to serve. I’m seeing how he is changing my heart and molding me for his vision.
So I’ll continue to pray to he molded and become who he wants me to be.
