Genesis 9:1–7 (NIV84)
1Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. 2The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. 3Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. 4“But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. 5And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man. 6“Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man. 7As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”
After the flood, God reissues the great mandate given to Adam: “Be fruitful and multiply.” At first glance, it seems like a simple reset, a second chance at the original project. Significantly, God affirms that humanity is still made “in the image of God.” The imago Dei was not washed away in the flood; our intrinsic dignity and responsibility remain. The fundamental purpose for which we were made—to marry, to build, to create, to cultivate civilization—is still in effect. We are not so broken that we are absolved of this great calling. The canvas is sullied, but the artist’s original design is still discernible.
Yet, the differences are stark and sobering. Where Adam’s relationship with creation was one of peaceful rule and dominion, Noah’s is to be one of “fear and dread.” The harmony is gone, replaced by conflict and violence. This new reality is not a command to be cruel, but a description of the world as it now is. Our power over nature remains, but it is now fraught with struggle. God’s prohibition against consuming blood underscores this new, fractured relationship. Life is sacred, belonging to God alone, and even in the necessary act of eating, humanity is to be reminded that we are stewards, not ultimate owners, of the life we take. This command serves as a check on our power, a constant reminder that even legitimate authority must be exercised with humility and reverence for the Creator.

Today’s reflection, how do I feel that I’m still created in God’s image, I am enough created for his will and purpose, in my young youthful year’s of my life I never believed I was, or that I was better then alot of other’s, the feelings of inadequacies, and superiority from moment to the nexts, I was I all of his creation and destroyed it at the same time, today I love all creation and im fascinated by his marvelous works, when I fish I do my best not to catch and kill unless I’m goin to eat it, I have respect for all living things except cockroaches, is that wrong??.
Father God in Heaven Holy be your name, thank you for giving me a new heart and understanding of loving all things thank you for providing us with food living or grown, let me not kill just for the sake of killing, but to have food, in Christ Jesus name Amen
Knowing that I’m still made in the Image of God is reassuring. Lately, I think I’ve been hyper focused on my sinfulness and what a sinner I am. How unworthy I am but yet God’s grace still showcases itself for me. As I read this, I see that I still have some intrinsic goodness and righteousness. It just might not be as evident as my sinful self. Knowing that I am this way in a sinful world makes me want to be a light. It makes me want to showcase the redemption that Christ has done in my life.
Dear God, I pray that You will show me how to love others better. How I can be a light to others. I pray that I will continue to follow You and pursue You everyday to be more righteous and be more like You. Amen.

Reflect and share:
Knowing that I am still made in God’s image, even in a fallen and broken world, humbles me deeply. It reminds me that no matter how far I’ve fallen or how much I’ve sinned, I still have a place in God’s kingdom. I’m being restored through his grace. When I look around and see all the pain, darkness, and chaos in the world, it could be easy to lose hope. But knowing that I carry God’s image gives me purpose, to reflect his love, mercy, and light wherever I go. It reminds me that I’m not beyond redemption and that he can use even my past mistakes for something good. So, I choose to move forward, living out the purpose he’s given me. That’s to grow, serve, and become better than I was before. I want my life to show that even a sinner like me can be transformed and used for God’s glory.
Prayer:
Oh Heavenly Father. Please give me wisdom to use what you’ve given me with humility and love. Help me lead with kindness, speak with grace, and respect all of your creation. Keep my heart humble and my actions guided by your spirit, so that all I do brings you honor. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I’m grateful that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image. It gives us a sense of duty and purpose for life. It gives our lives meaning. A meaning that extends beyond this life. It reminds us that all forms of life has meaning. One that we shouldn’t ignore or take for granted.
God,
Thank you for giving us meaning and purpose. Please grant us the wisdom to live with grace and humility towards others. May we appreciate life in all forms of creation.
Knowing I’m made in God’s image even in a fallen world gives me a sense of inherent worth and purpose to reflect God’s character, and a responsibility to steward my life and creation with humility. This realization helps me to see my self-worth not based on achievement but inspires a desire to live according to God’s will, not my will. God is like a potter & I’m just like the clay.
Lord, please grant me the wisdom for live obediently to Your will & have a heart with humility, love for others, and respect for all of God’s creation. Laura
Even in a fallen world, being made in God’s image reminds me that my life still has purpose. I’m called to reflect His character — to use my power and choices with humility, not control. It keeps me mindful that everything I touch belongs to Him, not me.
Knowing that we are made in God’s image in this fallen world, I first feel grateful for God not abandoning us even we are such sinful people. And God sent his own son down to save us, so that we can be free from sin. Therefore, I know my purpose is to not fall back to sin again and spread the gospel of Christ. Father God, thank you for saving humanity. We failed you so many times and we don’t deserve your salvation. And yet you saved us at our lowest point. I pray that you will give the wisdom I need to exercise the authority you have in your life with humility and a respect for all creation.
My purpose is still to worship God and my responsibility is to serve God. It feels so great to be made in God’s image because it means God really loves me and wants me to have the best He can give. My body is made to reflect the marvel of God and it’s made with great functions, strength and details. God wants me to enjoy a close relationship with Him, to enjoy and make full use of my body. Thank you God for creating me as your creation. Please pour your wisdom in me as well so that I know how you want me to serve you well and treat others with humility and respect.
